What has your journey to your position been like? What path have you taken?

I started my career in Ireland over 25+ years ago, after 2 years I moved to the USA to kick start my career. My career has grown from hands-on in all technical areas to management and leadership with global companies and some local to the DC area.

Has it always been your vision to reach the position you’re at? Was your current role part of your vision to become a tech leader?

With a passion for delivering services and solutions it allowed me to be in the trenches and learn what technology could offer the business. Now with a seasoned background in all areas of IT, from software development, infrastructure, cyber security and professional services, this allows me to be a successful leader in the industry.

Have you had a role model or mentor that has helped you on your journey?

Early in my career I always had successful leaders and role models, from global CEOs to four-star Admirals, my career has grown by their inspiration and mentorship.

How do you see the role of the technology leader evolving over the next 5 years?

Technology is the driving force for all businesses and without technology the business will not be as successful or lucrative. Delivering solutions and enabling strategic planning allows to set the vision of any business to aid and assist with driving revenue.

What skills do you think leaders of the future will need in order to thrive?
Communication is always key, as well as having a grounded understanding of technology and the way it can aid and assist the user or customer, is key for leaders to understand and enable the business for success.

How do you keep current with new skills, technologies and personal development?

Online with subscriptions to technical and leadership knowledge sharing forms, attending technical and leadership conferences and having a growing network to lean on.

What do you see as the next leap in technology that will impact your business or industry in particular?

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is the current topic of concern but also offers a world of possibilities to improve the experience and limit the steps in providing solutions.

"Listen to your customers and people's needs so that you can guide and assist when needed. "
If you were mentoring a leader of the future, what advice or guidance would you give to help them on their way?

Listen to your customers and people's needs so that you can guide and assist when needed.

Is there anything in particular that you would still like to achieve in your career or what is the next step on your journey?

As I continue to grow daily, I want to continue to offer my services and skills to help others and pay back to help grow others along my way.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

Collaboration amongst all, so that we can all grow and be successful.
