Technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, and this is not just limited to business and our roles as technology leaders, but also includes the lives of our children.

From smartphones and tablets to social media and video games, technology is shaping the way our children think, learn, and interact with the world around them.

It's not all good or bad!

On one hand, technology can be a powerful tool for education and learning. Online resources and apps can provide children with access to a wealth of information and resources that were once only available in libraries and classrooms. Additionally, technology can help children develop important skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.

However, there are obviously numerous downsides to consider too. For example, excessive use of technology can become addictive and lead to a lack of physical activity and an unhealthy sedentary lifestyle. Additionally, children who spend too much time online may be at risk for cyberbullying, online predators, and other risks. Moreover, excessive use of technology can lead to social isolation, lack of face-to-face communication and attention deficit disorder.

So, how can parents strike a balance between the benefits and risks of technology for their children? One strategy is to set clear rules and guidelines for technology use in your home.   This can include limiting screen time, setting boundaries for social media and internet usage, and monitoring the types of apps and games that children are using. There are various apps and tools that can make setting up usage easy in your home so that it will cut off automatically when the limit is reached.

Another strategy is to encourage children to use technology in moderation and balance it with other activities such as reading, playing outside, and spending time with family and friends.  Put these activities in the calendar, agree together on what your children would like to do and make it something you all look forward to, together.
